The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) was endorsed in 2003 by African leaders as part of the Maputo Declaration, a plan of action to put agriculture back onto the development agenda.

African governments commi'ed to increasing public investment in agriculture to a minimum of 10% of national budgets and to achieve a minimum of 6% annual growth in agriculture by 2015.

To date, 25 countries have signed the CAADP Compact, 18 countries have prepared investment plans and 12 countries have held successful business meetings.

FANRPAN developed the regional Compact for COMESA. To date only 2 (ECOWAS and COMESA) regional economic.
